10 Important Questions You Must Ask Your Partner Before Getting Married

Marriage isn't an easy task. Most of the times, we're sure about our partners before we get married, but after living with them, we understand it isn't that easy. Your life is going to change after marriage, so why not to make it a positive one? 

How to prepare yourself for a better marriage before hand? Everything can't be laid out for you. Hence, you will have to do a bit of discussion with your partner before tying the knot. 

So, here's a quick guide to get you started. You could go forth with some of these questions and see how you want to take your marriage plans further. 

If you are currently employed and want to continue working even after marriage, you should take your partner's opinion on that. It shouldn't be expected that you quit your job just because you're a woman. Also, the division of the household chores would be done accordingly. Again, just because you're a woman, you don't have to do all the work at home. It should be done in a partnership.

2. Want to have kids or not?

The topic of kids is crucial to discuss as well. Does your partner want to have kids? If yes, then how many? If both of you will be willing to pay for your child's education and welfare. It would be better if a couple discusses this before their marriage. 

3. Nuclear family or joint family?

This might not be a big deal, but when you're going to have kids of your own, this might cause a problem. So decide whether you would like to live in a joint family with your parents or live alone with your partner. 

4. Do you wake up early? If yes, do you expect me to wake up early as well?

Initially, it wouldn't be a problem but if your partner wakes up at 7 am even on weekends, and you like to sleep till at least till 11 am because Sunday only comes once a week, it might be a problem. So ask this question and work out the little details. 

5. Working out finances.

Well, just because he's a man doesn't mean all the burden of earnings should come on to his shoulders. You can contribute as much as possible so that your finances are intact. There is also a question of savings and how the savings are going to work. 

6. Pets matter or not?

It may seem pretty trivial, but pets do matter. Saying it as a complete animal lover, I could have a zoo in my house, but same can't be said for my boyfriend. So considerations about pets, breeds and number of pets in the home should be discussed as well. 

7. Your partner snores or not?

If you're going to sleep beside the person who snores for the rest of your life, you should know about their sleeping habits. Snoring can cause a lot of disturbance. Same goes for the fact if your partner always moves around, sleep talks or walks while sleeping. 

8. Talking about sex.

If you're going to be married to this person, obviously sex will be a part of the picture. Hence, discussing sex life should also be taken into consideration. Desires or fantasies should be out in the open. A married couple should be comfortable enough to speak about sex freely in their relationship.

9. Knowledge of basic skills.

When you're living with somebody, basic skills like cleaning or cooking matters a lot. You would be working together and understanding how much your partner can do in the kitchen or around the house issues. 

10. How will be life in the old age?

You should discuss the 'forever' plans with your partner. Your partner should be willing to not only share their life with you but should also want to love you until their last breath. Will they be your Valentine forever?
